Job Description

About LIFI

At Learning Initiatives for India (LIFI), we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn and thrive, regardless of where their family lives or works.

Migration, poverty, and other circumstances often interrupt children’s education. We work with Children Experiencing Education Discontinuity (CEED) through Community Teacher Leaders (CTLs), government partnerships, and community-led learning spaces to help children continue their learning and stay connected to education.

Our vision is simple yet powerful:

पढ़ेगा हर बच्चा, बढ़ेगा हर बच्चा।

Behind every learning space, every Community Teacher Leader, and every child who gets another chance to learn is a network of people and institutions who believe in this work. Building those connections and mobilising resources is an important part of making our vision a reality.

The Opportunity

Are you curious about how organisations find the people and resources they need to make a difference?

We are looking for a Fundraising Intern who enjoys research, communication, and connecting with people. You will work closely with LIFI’s leadership to identify potential donors, understand their interests, and support outreach to organisations and individuals who could partner with us.

This is an opportunity to see how fundraising works in a grassroots nonprofit—not just in theory, but through real research, conversations, follow-ups, and relationship-building.

You do not need prior fundraising experience. We are looking for someone who is willing to learn, takes initiative, and is comfortable reaching out to new people.

What You Will Do

1. Discover Potential Partners

  • Research CSR teams, foundations, philanthropic organisations, and individual donors whose interests align with LIFI’s work.
  • Explore their funding priorities, past grants, areas of interest, and relevant contacts.
  • Identify opportunities where LIFI’s work could be a good fit.

2. Help Start Conversations

  • Support initial outreach through emails and professional phone calls.
  • Follow up with prospective donors to identify the right person to connect with and understand their interest.
  • Help communicate LIFI’s work clearly and thoughtfully.

3. Keep Fundraising Efforts Organised

  • Maintain and update LIFI’s donor database and fundraising tracker.
  • Record outreach, responses, follow-ups, and potential funding opportunities.
  • Help the team keep track of conversations and decide on the next steps.

Who Should Apply?

This opportunity could be a good fit for you if you:

  • Enjoy researching organisations, exploring ideas, and finding relevant information.
  • Can write clear emails and communicate confidently in conversations.
  • Are comfortable making professional phone calls and reaching out to people you have not met before.
  • Are organised, proactive, and attentive to details.
  • Are interested in education, social impact, philanthropy, or the development sector.
  • Are willing to learn, take feedback, and follow through on commitments.

You do not need a background in fundraising. Students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals with the right interest and approach are encouraged to apply.

What You Will Gain

During the six-month internship, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Understand how nonprofit fundraising and institutional philanthropy work.
  • Learn how to research CSR programmes, foundations, and potential donors.
  • Develop practical skills in professional communication, outreach, and relationship-building.
  • Gain experience using donor databases, fundraising trackers, and opportunity pipelines.
  • Work closely with LIFI’s leadership and see how resource mobilisation supports grassroots education programmes.

Most importantly, you will see how thoughtful research and a simple first conversation can open doors to partnerships that help children continue learning.

Preferred Qualification

  • 12th pass and above.
  • Freshers and candidates beginning their journey in Fundraising are welcome to apply.
