Swathi Ram is a social worker and thought leader in the development sector. Her key focus areas are citizen engagement in nation-building, community-led development programs, and collaborative approach. Her connection to Ramakrishna Mission and Swami Vivekananda’s teachings since a young age, and her regular volunteering experience through her college days and IT career, inspired her to do more for the society. She quit her job in 2011 after working with well-known companies like Infosys and Megasoft, to work full-time in the social sector. Swathi Ram is an Aritra Leader – selected amongst the first cohort of the Social Leadership Accelerator program incubated by IIMB, for the 100 top social leaders of India.
Highlights:
Travelled extensively across India, engaged in education, health, livelihoods, capacity. building efforts in urban slums, rural, tribal and border areas.Led efforts and also personally volunteered in relief work during natural disasters in Uttarakhand, Chennai, Covid relief and rehabilitation. Spearheaded ‘Kumbh Sewa Mitra’ – an initiative to engage volunteers during Prayag Kumbh 2019.Part of the C20 engagement group on Sewa – Sense of Service, Philanthropy and Volunteerism during India’s G20 Presidency 2023. Strategized and organized various consultations and conferences across India, leading to the C20 Policy Pack formulation.
Key experience in stakeholder engagement and partnerships – collaborated with non- profits, educational institutions, CSR teams and individuals from various walks of the society.Invited to share thoughts and experiences, and also chaired panel discussions on various topics including the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda, the concept of Seva, development landscape of India, CSR, Community & Volunteer Engagement. Featured on Live Radio NRI Samay and other portals. Her emphasis is on every individual’s ability and responsibility to be and lead the change,towards rebuilding the glorious India.
